I’m talking about in the back 40… you know, that plot of land you hunted deer on as a kid. Maybe that’s not where you learned a few lessons, but that’s sure where I have.
There’s no greater place to get right with yourself and your values than out in Mother Nature. God seems to hear your prayers a little louder!
A lot of people look at hunting as killing animals, while those who actually understand it know that’s the furthest thing from the truth!
It’s the chance to build a bond and memories with some of your closest family and friends while absorbing all of God’s glory.
Some may not find much satisfaction sitting on the edge of a corn field, with a thermos of hot coffee, an arrow knocked in your bow, all bundled up in a tree stand wedged between two limbs as you try to stay warm.
To me, that’s heaven on earth! Simply watching the sun rise and set, and witnessing all of the beautiful things you’ll see in between.
While you’re hunting to harvest, you’re first there to be a conservationist. You’re serving a greater purpose than yourself.
You’re learning many valuable lessons as well. The one that stands out the most to me as compared to trading is: patience!
That’s right — the hunter who harvests the older, more mature buck is the one who has better served the purpose of conservation and the herd.
But in order for the hunter to have awaited the opportunity to harvest that older, mature buck, it took patience! Hours, days, sometimes even weeks!
That hunter had the discipline not to shoot every little deer that walked by in order to preserve them so they could live on to provide for the herd.
Instead, that hunter waited for the right deer at the right time in order to punch their tag. The older, more mature deer who is no longer breeding.
Well, my friends… trading is NO different.
The trader with patience to await their ideal setup instead of trading every nook and cranny of the market is no different than the mature deer hunter.
Most traders get “addicted” to pushing the BUY or SELL buttons, thinking that if they’re going to be a trader then they have to trade.
That couldn’t be more WRONG ! ! !
The profitable trader is fine with letting the clock tick for hours, days, even weeks until they get the setup they desire in order to enter a trade.
Be picky when you trade!
There’s no need to shoot every deer that walks by, just like you don’t have to take home the last drunk holding up the bar on a Saturday night either.
Whatever analogy you like is fine with me. If you need help with being picky or trying to identify the setup that you desire, I’d like to help you …
