Alright. 2021 might be here, but that doesn’t mean the insanity from 2020 suddenly disappeared.
We’ve still got a pandemic raging about, social unrest, political craziness, and lots of heated emotions.
Plus, every elected branch of the federal government is controlled by a party that’s often in favor of raising taxes.
To top it all off, the economy is still struggling to get back on its feet — mostly because of that pandemic.
Businesses are opening up slowly (those that survived, anyway), but massive numbers of people still don’t have jobs. People have burned through their savings and both stimulus checks. State governments continue to lock their states down, then reopen, then lockdown again.
Yet among all this uncertainty, I firmly believe that right now is the best time to start a side hustle.
Here’s why.
1. You (likely) have more free time
A lot of people can’t do much beyond go to the grocery store and the bank due to lockdowns.
Sound like you? Well, all that extra time gives you the perfect opportunity to start a side hustle, even if you’re still working full-time.
And if you’re partially employed or out of a job, well, at least you have a lot more time to work on that side hustle.
Your side hustle could be something in the real world (as long as you do it safely), like shoveling driveways or driving for Grubhub.
But I think a better idea is to launch an online side hustle. You can minimize the chances you catch or spread the virus — instead, you get to sit inside and build your side business on your computer.
2. It adds financial security
If the pandemic taught us one thing, it’s that job security is often a myth. We never truly know if we’ll have a job tomorrow.
Building a second income stream is a wise financial move, regardless of your job status.
If you’re still fully employed, you’re in an excellent position. You can pour all your side income into your savings to make sure you and your family are cared for.
And if you ever get the ax at work, you’ll at least have something to slow down the savings drain while you hunt for a new job.
3. It builds useful skills
I think the key to financial security, aside from building reliable income streams, is to have useful skills. If you have plenty of valuable skills, and you know how to combine them well, you’ll find it much easier to land another job or launch businesses in the future.
Aside from that, it looks good on a resume. If you’re ever job hunting in the future, that side hustle shows that you have drive and ambition.
4. It’s a smart use of your stimulus check
Hey, if you’ve still got that stimulus laying around — and you don’t need it to cover the essentials — why not make some money with it?
Thanks to the internet, you can start most side hustles for free — but just a few hundred dollars of startup capital can slash the time it takes to start earning.
Now, I might be biased, but I think the simplest side hustle to start is trading.
You don’t have to buy any equipment, except for maybe a computer and a monitor or two. You can get started trading with no more than that stimulus check.
And the best part? I’ve developed a system that can turn your stimulus bucks into a healthy passive income stream.

Remember: no one knows what the future holds. The longer you wait to start a side hustle, the less you’ll be financially prepared for the worst.
Stay safe out there!
