Shares of Credit Suisse on Wednesday plunged to a fresh all-time low for the second consecutive day after a top investor in the embattled Swiss bank said it would not be able to provide any more cash due to regulatory restrictions.
Trading in the bank’s plummeting stock was halted several times throughout the morning as it fell below 2 Swiss francs ($2.17) for the first time.
The share price rout renewed a broader sell-off among European lenders that were already facing significant market turmoil following the Silicon Valley Bank fallout.
Several Italian banks on Wednesday were also subject to automatic trading stoppages, including UniCredit, FinecoBank and Monte dei Paschi.
While in 2008 – 2009 we had a subprime fall out, it looks as though we’re having a global financial fall out.
It’s not coming as a surprise to me, although many are scratching their heads asking “How did we arrive here . . . again?”
The answer is quite simple. History repeats itself. And the reason it is so proficient is because society has been trained to allow it to happen rather than acknowledge it, learn from it and prevent it.
I say it all the time: A small business can’t operate like these governments around the world do. If they did, they’d go bankrupt.
It’s not too far-fetched to see the majority of the countries on the face of this earth go bankrupt. Especially when China controls the economy and OPEC+ controls energy.
I’ve been saying it for years. China supplies Russia the economy it needs and Russia supplies China the energy it needs… and together, they rule the entire world.
Like it or not, it’s happening. You and I aren’t going to change it, but we can change our dependency on what’s out of our control.
